Overview

Soluna’s Project Kati page describes a soon-to-be 166 MW Texas data center connected to a wind farm with excess energy, named for the Hungarian scientist Kati Karikó, and Soluna’s second greenfield project in Texas. Soluna says the plant was not selling all the power it generated because the grid was overloaded or congested, and that Soluna plans to buy a majority of that excess energy and ramp demand up or down to support the grid. Business Wire’s 10 February 2026 release is titled Soluna Begins Energization of Project Kati 1, adding 83 MW to total capacity. The Rio Grande Valley Business Journal reported in January 2026 that Soluna was moving Project Kati 2 forward in Willacy County at the Las Majadas Wind Farm, with Kati 2 planned in two phases totaling 100 MW of wind power, and distinguished that Willacy cluster from Cameron County projects Ellen and Hedy.
