Core Scientific Pecos Cottonwood Data Center | Reeves County, TX

Core Scientific announced on 27 April 2026 a plan to scale its Pecos, Texas, campus to about 1.5 GW of gross power, or about 1.0 GW of leasable power. The company said it had begun transforming the campus, where 300 MW of gross power was then used for bitcoin mining, into an AI-infrastructure data-center campus. The first data hall had reached interior foundational footings, with precast walls arriving as the project moved toward vertical construction. Initial capacity was still expected in early 2027, and the site was available for lease. Core Scientific also said it had secured an incremental 300 MW of gross power under contract with its utility provider, a scalable behind-the-meter plan not counted in its previously announced leasable pipeline, and more than 200 acres of land. Data Center Dynamics reported the same incremental 300 MW, 1.5 GW gross and 1 GW leasable path, initial AI hosting in early 2027, and located Cottonwood 1 and 2 at 1939 Farm to Market 2119 in Reeves County, launched in 2022 with multiple buildings and an on-site substation. Company 1.5 GW figures are a longer-term strategy, not the public-map packaging of three 100 MW operating halls plus a 300 MW planned AI hall.
