AWS GW Ranch Data Center | Pecos County, TX
Pacifico Energy’s GW Ranch project page describes a private-grid power campus in Pecos County, Texas, purpose-built for hyperscale data centers. Pacifico says the project has TCEQ air-permit approval for up to 7.65 GW of generation using a mix of small and large gas turbines, and that with those approvals GW Ranch can deliver more than 5 GW of off-grid power by combining turbines with battery storage and solar. First power is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, with 1 GW online in 2028 and 5-plus GW by 2031. Pacifico lists an 8,000-plus-acre site, up to 7.65 GW of dispatchable generators, 1.8 GW of battery storage, and up to 750 MWac of solar, and says construction of generation and the data-center campus can start in the first quarter of 2026. The Texas Observer, reprinting Inside Climate News, reported on 29 January 2026 that TCEQ had issued what Pacifico called the largest air-pollution permit in the country for the 7.65 GW GW Ranch complex, authorized to release more than 12,000 tons per year of regulated air pollutants and up to 33 million tons per year of greenhouse gases. Data Center Dynamics reported on 10 August 2026 that Amazon had acquired an 8,000-acre Pecos site for a natural-gas behind-the-meter data center. TDLR TABS filings for Pecos County Data Center Buildings A, B, and C sit on the same Pecos County campus. Pecos County’s other mapped campus in this directory is [Project Horizon](/data-centers/texas/pecos/project-horizon).
The public map lists one building, AWS GW Ranch - Expansion, 4,000 MW, planned. Reported campus capacity is 4,000 MW.
