Texas Critical Data Centers closed the purchase of 235 acres in Ector County, Texas, from Grow Odessa on a campus DCD reported 30 July 2025 as a natural-gas-powered AI data center. TCDC is a 50/50 joint venture of New Era Helium and Sharon AI. DCD said initial capacity is 250 MW with potential to scale beyond 1 GW, and that TCDC also signed an exclusive letter of intent with Grow Odessa for another 203 acres that would take the site to 438 acres near Odessa with fiber and large intrastate gas transmission lines. The project started as a 90 MW plan in late 2024 and expanded to 250 MW after the larger plot closed. DCD said the first 100 MW segment is expected online by December 2026 and the remaining 150 MW about six months later, with onsite generation from reciprocating gas engines under a June non-binding MoU with PowerForward Energy for 250 MW. New Era CEO E. Will Gray II framed the close as aligning Permian Basin energy assets with AI and HPC demand. TCDC said it intends to apply for an Industrial District with the City of Odessa for water and wastewater while keeping Ector County zoning.
