Overview

Meta said on July 22, 2026, that the Temple Data Center is serving traffic and is its first AI-optimized data center to come online, a more than $1.2 billion investment that peaked at 1,200 skilled-trade workers and about 100 operating jobs. The company announced a more than $400,000 grant to Temple and Belton Independent School Districts for mobile STEM and AI labs, on top of more than $1.7 million already given to Bell County schools and nonprofits. Temple uses closed-loop liquid cooling that Meta says uses zero water for most of the year, and Meta is funding a regional project that returns 5.2 million gallons a year to the local watershed. Electricity use is matched with 100 percent renewable energy, and Meta worked with Oncor years ahead of energization so it pays the full cost of its load. Data Center Dynamics described Temple as the first next-generation Meta hall after the company scrapped in-progress designs for GPU density. Alan Duong, Meta’s global director of data center engineering, said the new plants blend direct-to-chip liquid cooling for GPUs with air cooling for traditional servers, omit immersion, and aim to be faster and cheaper to build than the prior generation. Bell County’s other mapped campus in this directory is Rowan Temple.

The public map lists 2 map records. Reported campus capacity is 197.6 MW. All 2 buildings are operating.
