Overview

Constellation announced on 9 February 2026 that Calpine, a Constellation business unit, signed a 380 MW agreement with CyrusOne to connect and serve a new data center adjacent to the Freestone Energy Center in Freestone County, Texas, plus an exclusive agreement for Phase 2, another 380 MW. Those contracts sit on top of the 400 MW Calpine–CyrusOne agreements for the Thad Hill Energy Center in Bosque County. Constellation said the new facility is about 80 miles southeast of Dallas. CyrusOne CEO Eric Schwartz said the partnership lets CyrusOne deliver scalable infrastructure while keeping grid reliability for local communities. Data Center Dynamics reported on 31 July 2026 that CyrusOne filed with TDLR for three one-story buildings — DFW20A, DFW20B, and DFW20C — on FM 488 in Fairfield next to Calpine’s Freestone plant, a 760 MW project costing $1.5 billion. DCD said each hall is 306,215 square feet, that construction had started on two buildings with the third due the following month, and that completion is expected by the end of August 2027. CyrusOne’s Freestone County page says the campus is near the Freestone Energy Center at 1366 FM 488, Fairfield, uses closed-loop cooling, and is a continued partnership with Calpine. CyrusOne DFW10 is the Bosque County Calpine campus.
