Overview

Edged is developing Project Atlas on about 410 acres of farmland at 2493 North Cedar Crest Boulevard in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania, outside Allentown. Data Center Dynamics reported the company, through CDE Acquisitions LLC, originally proposed six halls and more than 5.1 million square feet with up to $9 billion invested, then scaled the plan to three buildings totaling about 1.5 million square feet and 725 MW, saying it will pay for power and infrastructure upgrades and dedicate about 160 acres to the Jordan Creek Greenway. WFMZ said the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission reviewed the three-building, 1.5 million-square-foot revision with an administration building, warehouse, and substation, plus a new road linking Cedar Crest Boulevard to Mauch Chunk Road. Lehigh Valley Public Media covered the scaled-back proposal before the township planning commission and said Edged pledged to cover infrastructure costs and highlighted closed-loop cooling with zero water usage on its project site. WFMZ’s economic-benefit coverage said Edged projected more than $8.9 billion of investment, about $16.5 million a year in taxes, and a closed-loop cooling system, while residents packed South Whitehall planning meetings. Lehigh Valley Public Media said the planning commission must act by the end of October and scheduled further review at Parkland High School.
