Overview

Aligned Shippingport is Aligned Data Centers’ planned campus next to the former Bruce Mansfield coal plant in Shippingport, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. TribLIVE reported Shippingport Council granted zoning modifications for the campus, dubbed Project Phoenix, with documents detailing up to three data centers each larger than 600,000 square feet, plus a warehouse, a natural-gas generation pad, stormwater facilities, and 250 parking spots. FirstEnergy closed Bruce Mansfield in 2019. The New York-based Frontier Group of Companies bought the plant and surrounding acres in 2022 and consolidated them as Shippingport Industrial Park, about a third of the borough. Frontier has said it is investing up to $3.2 billion to convert the coal plant to natural gas. Aligned’s halls would sit on the far side of the former plant from the still-active Beaver Valley Nuclear Power Station. The Pittsburgh Business Times reported Aligned buying the Shippingport industrial site for more than $223 million in July 2026. Beaver County Radio said Aligned closed July 28 on 650.89 acres for $223,150,865.38, intending a nearly 2 million-square-foot campus.
