Overview

Amazon Web Services proposes a hyperscale campus at 1488 South U.S. 68 in Wilmington, Ohio, on a 471-acre tract beside the city’s wastewater-treatment plant. The Clinton County project FAQ describes nine principal data-center buildings ranging from 162,787 to 219,689 square feet and totaling 1,920,299 square feet. Wilmington City Council approved annexation of the property in August 2025 after the statutory expedited annexation process. The site is zoned Light Industrial, and the city added data-center requirements covering a formal noise study, visual screening for cooling and ventilation equipment, and a 200-foot setback from residential areas. Local officials said proximity to the wastewater plant made the required water and sewer improvements financially viable. AWS will connect the campus to its global cloud and artificial-intelligence infrastructure. The project also builds on AWS’s established Ohio footprint, including operating sites in Dublin and Hilliard. The city and port authority assembled their FAQ after reviewing other data-center developments and questions from residents, schools, and existing businesses. Their published site plan gives the full nine-building concept, while the Powered Lands map currently separates the first three planned Wilmington buildings.
