Overview

The public map’s New Albany Data Center Socrates South pin is the Morse Road / Beech Road Meta load in Licking County, Ohio, served by Williams’ Socrates South behind-the-meter plant. Data Center Dynamics reported Ohio Power Siting Board approval on June 9, 2025 of the 200 MW Socrates South Power Generation Project, to be built by Will-Power OH, a Williams subsidiary, on the north side of Morse Road just east of Beech Road, with construction slated to start in the third quarter of 2025 and finish in the third quarter of 2026. DCD said the plant will not connect to the grid, that two 24-inch pipelines will supply gas, and that at full build-out Williams planned two 200 MW generation sites costing about $1.6 billion plus a substation for the adjacent data center on Sidecat’s 740-acre New Albany International Business Park campus. The OPSB’s June 9, 2025 release names Sidecat as the offtaker and puts the 20-acre generation pad on that industrial campus where Sidecat already has multiple halls and a latest building under construction next to the plant. The Columbus Dispatch said Socrates South was the first of the two Williams plants approved, with Socrates North then still pending. The public map lists one planned 200 MW map record. OPSB’s June 9, 2025 Socrates South release is the first of the two Williams approvals and names Sidecat’s 740-acre campus as the offtaker. DCD’s Q3 2025 start / Q3 2026 finish is the construction clock for the Morse Road plant next to Meta’s latest hall.
