Overview

EdgeConneX proposed a hyperscale campus on farmland north of State Route 752 in Ashville, Pickaway County, Ohio, south of Columbus. Data Center Dynamics reported plans that included a 1.8 GW substation and a 200 MW gas-turbine energy center on a roughly 680-acre footprint spanning village land and neighboring Harrison Township, with the company seeking a long tax abatement. A later DCD report said Ashville Village Council denied annexation of about 490 additional acres while EdgeConneX already owned about 200 acres inside village limits where it still planned to build. NBC4 reported the village later enacted a 180-day pause on new data-center zoning applications after residents lined yards with “No Data Center” signs, and said EdgeConneX had withdrawn a mid-December annexation and rezoning bid for the larger tract. The public map lists the Ashville pin as canceled at 800 MW. Pickaway County sits on the Scioto River corridor south of the Columbus metro; Ashville is the northern-county village on the State Route 752 industrial belt. DCD’s annexation story said EdgeConneX already owned the Ashville village parcel and may have to rethink capacity after the larger Harrison Township tract was blocked. NBC4 added that under the 180-day moratorium Ashville will not process new data-center zoning applications, leaving the mapped canceled pin as the public-map record of the stalled campus.
