Overview

Takanock Goshen is Takanock Beckham’s planned Elkhart County data-center project, described in public testimony Kenneth Davies, founder and CEO of Takanock, filed April 1, 2025, with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission in Cause No. 46183. Davies told the Commission that through Takanock Beckham the company is developing a data-center site in Elkhart County and may pursue additional Indiana projects given land, electric-transmission facilities, natural-gas infrastructure, fiber, and proximity to major urban centers.

Takanock first approached Northern Indiana Public Service Company in May 2024 about serving Project Beckham. Davies testified that the parcel is crossed by the 345 kV Hiple–East Elkhart line reportedly owned by American Electric Power, and that Takanock’s modeling indicated 1,350 MW of capacity on that line with less than $10 million of network upgrade costs to serve the full load request. He described NIPSCO’s response to the load request as the reason Takanock intervened in NIPSCO Generation LLC’s petition asking the Commission not to exercise jurisdiction over generation built for large loads, calling the GenCo structure anticompetitive and arguing that new data-center customers should be able to buy power on the open market the way some existing industrial customers can.
