Overview

Google’s Fort Wayne campus is an Allen County data-center site the company broke ground on in 2024. Google’s Fort Wayne Data Center site describes a $2 billion local investment, a new water tower funded by the company, a pledge to replenish 120 percent of freshwater volume consumed by 2030, $1 million to the Indiana Office of Energy Development’s Energy Saver Program, more than $260,000 to East Allen County Schools and Fort Wayne Community Schools, $400,000 for the electrical training ALLIANCE including the Fort Wayne Electrical JATC, and $1.2 million to ACRES Land Trust to protect 22 acres in the Saint Joseph River watershed expected to recharge about 500 million gallons of groundwater a year.

The Journal Gazette reported Google announcing that the southeast Fort Wayne campus is operational, originally code-named Project Zodiac on an 892-acre site near New Haven with $55.5 million in property-tax savings. Broderick Green, Google data center public affairs manager, tied the announcement to a public forum at the Grand Wayne Convention Center. The tax-abatement application listed 30 full-time positions at go-live. Developer attorney Thomas Trent told local officials in November 2023 that investment could reach $4 billion across 12 proposed buildings. Power is through Indiana Michigan Power; Google says residential and business customers will not bear the extra costs of serving the large load. Backup diesel generators are zoned for catastrophic use.

Google’s other Indiana campuses are Google Michigan City and Google Monrovia.
