Vantage VA2 Data Center | Sterling, VA
Vantage Data Centers’ Ashburn II campus, branded VA2, is an 18-acre Sterling campus less than two miles from Vantage VA1. Vantage’s locations page describes three multi-story facilities totaling 800,000 square feet and 96 MW of critical IT load, with a closed-loop chilled-water system generated through air-cooled chillers. The same page lists 300 watts per square foot average density, N+1 electrical redundancy, 480-volt distribution, and six meet-me rooms with three campus points of entry. WJLA reported a July 2026 power failure that put the Glenn Drive campus on diesel generators and quoted Vantage describing a critical power failure at the on-site power plant. The Piedmont Environmental Council identified VA2 at 22435 Glenn Drive as Loudoun’s first data center running 24/7 on on-site natural-gas turbines rather than the grid, with Loudoun Board approval in March 2023. A Loudoun town-hall packet repeats the 18-acre, 96 MW, three-building description and the Glenn Drive address. Sterling sits in eastern Loudoun County on Virginia State Route 28 north of Dulles International Airport. Glenn Drive runs through the Route 28 industrial grid toward Pacific Boulevard and Relocation Drive. Fairfax County is immediately east across Route 28.
