Overview

Riot’s Rockdale location page says the facility hosts 700 MW of developed capacity, uses immersion and air-cooled systems for Bitcoin mining and data-center operations, includes seven buildings, began construction in 2019 and was operational by 2020, and is Riot’s flagship Texas site with vertical integration to maintain substations independently. Riot announced on 16 January 2026 the fee-simple acquisition of 200 acres in Milam County, previously operated under a ground lease, for $96 million funded by the sale of about 1,080 bitcoin, unlocking the Rockdale Site for data-center development. The release says the site features a 700 MW interconnection, dedicated water, and fiber, and that Riot signed a data-center lease with AMD for an initial 25 MW of critical IT load beginning January 2026 and completing in May 2026, with an initial 10-year term expected to generate about $311 million, plus expansion options that could bring AMD to 200 MW of critical IT load. Riot intends to convert the full 700 MW of gross power at Rockdale for data-center tenants. Stargate Milam is Milam County’s other mapped campus, the live Stargate pin. Riot’s January 16, 2026, release says the 200-acre fee-simple buy was funded by selling about 1,080 bitcoin, that AMD’s initial 25 MW IT load is a 10-year lease with about $311 million of expected contract revenue, and that expansion and ROFR could take AMD to 200 MW.
