Iron County is in southwestern Utah on the Basin and Range country west of Cedar City. Parowan is the county seat. Interstate 15 crosses the eastern county through Cedar City. State Route 56 runs west from Cedar City toward Beryl and Newcastle on the Escalante Desert.
