Overview

BrightNight describes a Red Butte energy and data-center campus in Iron County, Utah, with more than 2 GW of hybrid power and a 1.5 GW data center. Generation on BrightNight’s page includes 300 MW of solar, 300 MW of battery storage, and 1.5 GW of natural gas, co-located with the data halls so renewable energy, flexible generation, and storage can run together. BrightNight says the campus is sited in a remote area with access to existing roads and high-voltage transmission, uses dark-sky lighting and low-water design, and commits $500,000 of community investment per 100 MW of on-site generation plus $1 million per 100 MW of data-center load, up to $22.5 million at the 1.5 GW planned scale. Iron County Today reported a Cedar City open house for the proposal at Festival Hall. BrightNight listed a 14 May 2026 open house from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 105 North 100 East in Cedar City for maps, layouts, and permitting questions, with a second open house to be scheduled. Iron County’s planning page lists the Red Butte Data Center among proposed data-center projects. This pin is Iron County’s BrightNight campus, not Wonder Valley in Box Elder County and not the Millard County Delta Gigasite or Joule High Performance Compute Data Center Campus.
