Overview

Google’s Storey County campus is the company’s operating Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center data center in Storey County, Nevada, on the 1,210-acre tract Google bought in 2017. Google’s Storey County page says the campus was built in 2021, that Google has invested more than $6 billion in Nevada between the Henderson campus of 2019 and this Storey County site, and that the company began using geothermal energy to power the Storey County campus in 2023. MIT Technology Review described cranes and framing behind the existing hall filling much of that 1,210-acre lot, quoted Google saying halls under construction will use air cooling, and reported the operating hall withdrew 1.9 million gallons in 2023 and consumed 200,000 gallons. Google’s environmental report listed Storey County among its two least energy-efficient campuses because air cooling uses about 10 percent more electricity. Data Center Dynamics, covering Novva’s later TRIC hall, placed Google among the park’s operators with Switch, PowerHouse, and Tract. Storey County siblings already in this directory are Switch Tahoe Reno Citadel Campus and Tract South Valley. The public map lists Building 1 as operating and Buildings 3 and 4 as planned.
