Overview
QTS published a Blakely campus page for Early County, Georgia, putting the project in the concept stage with a potential gross capacity of 1,400 MW and a $28.75 million Community Betterment Fund. QTS says it is working with the Blakely community to establish new data-center campuses and will fund the energy infrastructure and electricity required to support the campus so project-related energy costs are not passed on to local residents or to existing customers of the MEAG Power System. Cooling is a closed-loop system that consumes no water for cooling once operational. Annual payments of $7.5 million run for three years beginning in December 2026, before construction starts. Fund items on the page include city-park improvements, a Washington High School building partnership, a master comprehensive plan, street and road-repair evaluation, workforce development for a QTS Data Center Trade School in the Early County High School system, sanitary and storm-system study work, potable-water upgrades, wastewater-treatment plant upgrades expected around 2028, and public-safety assistance. QTS estimates 1,000 plus construction jobs over the course of development and hundreds of permanent jobs, and says designs are not final, with construction often spread across five to ten years depending on zoning, permitting, environmental review, and utility agreements. QTS says it has been part of Georgia for more than 20 years.
South Georgia neighbors include Project Arrowhead in Irwin County, Pine Ridge Technology Center in Twiggs County, and the canceled Bolingbroke Technology Campus outside Macon.
The public map lists one planned map record. Campus capacity is 1,400 MW.
