Overview

The City of Lovejoy announced that the developer behind Stillwater Technology Park withdrew a gigawatt-scale data-center proposal south of Atlanta and would pursue residential development on the property instead. Data Center Dynamics reported on August 10, 2026 that Mayor Marci Fluellyn, in an August 6 press release, thanked residents who attended meetings, asked questions, and shared concerns, and said the city respected the developer’s decision to withdraw its application. Stillwater first filed with Lovejoy in December 2025 to rezone 11760 Panhandle Road for data-center use. DCD said the application covered a 400-acre parcel and proposed up to 15 data-center buildings, each 321,000 square feet, for a total of 3.465 million square feet. Central Georgia EMC was set to provide the grid connection, and documents indicated capacity could have totaled 1.25 GW. Stillwater Development’s listed projects are mainly residential community developments. Lovejoy is about 24 miles south of Atlanta. DCD dated the withdrawal story August 10, 2026, after months of public meetings on the Panhandle Road rezoning.

The public map still lists the Clayton County campus as planned. Nearby Georgia campuses include 75 South in Spalding County, AWS Butts County farther south, and Project Sail, the Coweta County campus Coweta commissioners rezoned on a 3-2 vote.
