Overview

Data Center Dynamics reported on May 21, 2026, that Google will invest $15 billion in Missouri infrastructure, including a data center in New Florence, Montgomery County. DCD said Google will work with Ameren to bring 500 MW of new power capacity to the state’s grid, building on 1 GW already contracted by Google in Missouri, and will work with Evergy on a Capacity Commitment Framework so large energy consumers pay for their electricity needs. The campus under development is known as Project Spade, planned on a 934-acre plot by Related Digital, targeting 1.2 GW of capacity. DCD, citing Baxtel, said the data center will feature two buildings spanning around 800,000 square feet, use closed-loop air cooling that limits water use to domestic needs, with construction expected to begin in 2026 and 2,000 construction jobs. Montgomery County’s Project Spade page hosts the site plan and a road-opening update. Ruth Porat said Google looks forward to expanding investments in Missouri and to workforce development and energy affordability. Governor Mike Kehoe called the Montgomery County investment a testament to Missouri’s technology destination status.
