Overview

Google is building its Cedar Rapids data-center campus at the Big Cedar Industrial Center along Edgewood Road SW and 76th Avenue SW. Cedar Rapids Economic Development says the project began publicly under the Heaviside LLC name before Google was identified in March 2024, after more than five years of city development work. The city records a minimum capital investment of $576 million, an estimated total investment above $3.5 billion, and a requirement for at least 31 full-time jobs under the Iowa High Quality Jobs program. Data Center Dynamics reported that Google later placed Cedar Rapids inside a broader $7 billion Iowa investment in cloud and artificial-intelligence infrastructure, alongside expansion at Council Bluffs. The company also announced community funding for water quality and electrical training. KCRG reported in July 2026 that both Google and QTS hyperscale campuses were under construction in the Big Cedar industrial area while city officials discussed utility capacity, rates, and the development agreements. The public map lists three planned map records, Buildings 3, 4, and 5. Reported campus capacity is 309.9 MW. All three mapped records belong to the same Linn County project. The city’s project account supplies the developer identity, site, investment, and employment commitments behind the mapped campus, while the map supplies the current hall-level capacity and lifecycle fields.

The public map lists 3 map records. Reported campus capacity is 309.9 MW. All 3 buildings are planned.
