Overview

Amazon’s Hobart campus in Lake County, Indiana, is part of a $15 billion Northern Indiana data-center program announced in November 2025 on top of the earlier $11 billion St. Joseph County investment. Data Center Dynamics said AWS would build a 2.4 GW regional campus and that WSBT confirmed facilities at 61st and Colorado Street in Hobart, with Mayor Josh Huddlestun saying Amazon would cover infrastructure costs and NIPSCO supplying power. Amazon’s own release said the $15 billion plan would create about 1,100 high-skilled jobs and expand cloud and AI campuses across Northern Indiana beyond New Carlisle. An Indiana Department of Environmental Management air-permit filing covered by Just Transition Northwest Indiana described two Hobart sites at 4751 East 61st Avenue and 6197 Colorado Street with a combined 2,119 MW, 26 buildings, and hundreds of backup generators.
