Overview

Amazon’s Birchwood campus is planned on the former Birchwood Power Facility site in King George County, Virginia. GovTech reported a Virginia court fight over that Amazon proposal and its implications for other data-center cases. The Fredericksburg Free Press reported the state reviewing a water-withdrawal permit for Birchwood Tech Campus at 10900 Birchwood Drive. Virginia Mercury reported in August 2026 that Amazon changed course on groundwater use for the King George campus. Data Center Dynamics, covering Oasis Dahlgren West, noted Amazon is also seeking a King George campus after an earlier rejection and a May petition to review that decision. 8 MW, a 431.4 MW campus total. Oasis Dahlgren West is King George County’s other mapped campus, Oasis Digital Properties’ 1.2 GW Dahlgren approval, not this Amazon Birchwood pin. Birchwood is the Amazon water-permit and power-plant-site campus on Birchwood Drive, not the 485-acre James Madison Parkway Oasis park. DCD said Amazon filed a petition in May to review an earlier King George rejection. The three mapped halls are even 143.8 MW planned buildings totaling 431.4 MW on the public map, the Amazon Birchwood campus rather than Oasis’s 10-building Dahlgren West park.
