Overview

EdgeConneX operates MEM01 as its purpose-built Memphis edge data center, serving local organizations that need colocation, interconnection, and direct access to cloud platforms. The operator says the carrier-neutral facility was positioned to shorten routes between content and applications and users in the Memphis market. Its current data sheet describes 500 kW of N+1 capacity scalable to 1.5 MW, network diversity, and connections to local network and cable providers. The facility occupies 16,700 square feet, including 5,633 square feet of raised floor for tenant racks. It supports deployments from individual racks through custom cages and pods, with more than 20 kW available per cabinet and power density above 600 watts per square foot. EdgeConneX announced an expansion of the facility’s role in 2019 when it launched local hybrid- and multi-cloud on-ramp services with Comcast Business and Megaport. The service gave Memphis-area enterprises dedicated connections to platforms including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, and Alibaba Cloud without routing those connections over the public internet. The operator described improved security, performance, latency, and access cost as the purpose of the launch. MEM01 also provides remotely managed technical support, monitored power circuits, redundant cooling, multiple fiber entrances, controlled security zones, and continuous network-operations-center coverage. EdgeConneX lists the operating facility as carrier neutral and identifies ENERGY STAR certification for its measured energy performance. The public map reports 1.3 MW for the operating MEM01 record in Shelby County.

MEM01 is operating as a single facility.
