Overview

Colossus 2 is xAI’s, later SpaceXAI’s, Memphis hall at 5420 Tulane Road in Whitehaven, the second campus in the Memphis–Southaven cluster after Colossus 1 at the former Electrolux plant. Wikipedia records an xAI affiliate buying the warehouse and adjacent parcels in February 2025 for about $80 million, with a first GB200-class cluster coming online around January 2026 after a reported 91-day build. The rooftop has carried the Macrohard name. Training of newer Grok models shifted primarily to Colossus 2 after Anthropic rented essentially all of Colossus 1. Gizmodo reported SpaceX agreed with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to remove 69 mobile turbines at the Southaven power site that feeds Colossus 2, with the last units allowed until July 2027 as a permitted 1.2-gigawatt plant of 41 turbines comes online. SpaceXAI said removal could start as early as August 2026. TechCrunch said many of those turbines have run for months without conventional air permits because they remain on trailers, that the NAACP and Southern Environmental Law Center sued over the Southaven plant, and that the U.S. Department of Justice intervened on national-security grounds. Permit papers for the permanent plant list turbines from 16.48 to 50 megawatts.

The public map lists one map record, Colossus 2, 1,563 MW, operating. Reported campus capacity is 1,563 MW.
