Overview

Amazon Web Services’ Kline Township Innovation Campus is a planned nine-building data-center park on about 380 acres along Lofty Road between Interstate 81 and Route 309 in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. Amazon’s project page says the company bought the industrially zoned tract in 2025, land already permitted for more than 3 million square feet of warehouse, and that the campus is part of a $20 billion Pennsylvania investment. Data Center Dynamics reported a $178 million 2025 close on land previously slated for Brewster Development warehouses, with up to ten buildings and 2.5 million square feet. The Republican Herald quoted AWS economic-development lead Becky Ford and attorney Jeff Wilhelm telling county commissioners the campus would use 15,000 gallons of water a day and up to 100,000 gallons on the hottest days, with outside-air cooling 96 percent of the year, and 400 to 500 full-time jobs at $80,000 to $100,000. The Standard Speaker described nine data halls of about 226,000 square feet each plus administration, security, and water buildings. Governor Josh Shapiro later removed data centers from Pennsylvania’s Permit Fast Track program; Kline had been accepted on May 22, 2025.
