Overview

Google’s Papillion campus is the company’s first Nebraska data center, an operating Gold Coast Road park in Sarpy County that broke ground in 2019 on about 275 acres. Google’s Nebraska page dates the Papillion campus to 2019, the Omaha campus to 2022, and a Lincoln campus announcement to 2023, and says Google has invested more than $15 billion in the state. A 2023 milestone on that page is $1.2 billion of new Nebraska investment across Lincoln, Omaha, and Papillion. The Nebraska Examiner reported a 2024 capital spend of $930 million and a five-year tally of about $4.4 billion, with spokesman Dan Harbeke saying the original Papillion campus has kept expanding. Nebraska’s Department of Water, Energy, and Environment posted a construction-permit notice for Fireball Group, LLC, Google’s Papillion affiliate, at 14865 Gold Coast Road, adding emergency generators and sixteen two-cell cooling towers and raising the facility-wide diesel limit to 1,180,000 gallons a year. Data Center Map lists Buildings 1 through 4 on Gold Coast Road, served by Omaha Public Power District. Sarpy County’s other mapped campus is Meta Papillion, the nine-building Sarpy Data Center south of Capehart Road. The public map currently lists Papillion Buildings 3 and 4 as the operating pair.
