Overview

Meta’s Sarpy Data Center is the nine-building Papillion and Springfield campus that began as the Papillion Data Center in 2017 and crossed Capehart Road into Springfield in 2021. Meta’s July 28, 2022 newsroom post announced a new Springfield building that would make the campus nine halls and 4 million square feet, with 100 percent renewable energy from wind farms including Dixon County, Nebraska, more than $2.5 million in local grants, and a site that came online in 2019. Data Center Dynamics reported the same nine-building, 4-million-square-foot expansion after Meta bought more than 500 acres in Springfield south of the original Papillion halls, following a 2018 jump from two buildings to six totaling more than 2.6 million square feet and a 2021 addition of about 1 million square feet and $400 million. The Associated Press put the campus at more than $1.5 billion, about 150 people already on site and about 300 at full staff, with six of nine buildings then operating and completion targeted by the end of 2024. Nebraska’s air program lists Raven Northbrook LLC operating the Friend Plaza halls at 14734 Friend Plaza in Papillion. Sarpy County’s other mapped campus is Papillion, Google’s Gold Coast Road park.
