Overview

Google’s first Kansas City, Missouri, data-center campus is at the Hunt Midwest Business Center in Clay County’s Northland, northeast of Parvin Road and Arlington Avenue. KSHB reported Google’s March 2024 announcement of a $1 billion Northland campus, a Skilled Trades and Readiness program, a $100,000 STEAM contribution to North Kansas City schools, and a plan to power the site with 400 MW of carbon-free solar from Beavertail Solar through Ranger Power and D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments working with Evergy. Hunt Midwest said the business center supplies land, on-site power, and fiber for the campus. Data Center Dynamics later noted Google broke ground on that first Missouri campus in 2024 and, when confirming Project Mica as a second Clay County campus at Interstate 435 and Highway 169, said Google had permission for up to 1.435 million square feet on 315 acres at Hunt Midwest purchased in 2019 and December 2021. The public map lists Buildings 2 through 4 as planned halls totaling 650.1 MW on the Kansas City East campus. Hunt Midwest’s announcement quoted Missouri Partnership and local leaders welcoming Google’s first Missouri campus at the business center east of Interstate 435 and Worlds of Fun. DCD’s Mica story is the confirmation that the Hunt Midwest campus is the first of two Clay County Google builds.
