Overview

Amazon’s Madison Mega Site is the Canton half of AWS’s Madison County, Mississippi, data-center program, on Nissan Parkway and Highway 22 at the more-than-1,000-acre industrial park that also holds an Amazon fulfillment center; the other half is AWS Ridgeland. Amazon’s January 2024 $10 billion announcement named two Madison County industrial parks and at least 1,000 jobs as the largest capital investment in state history. Data Center Dynamics later reported the statewide commitment rising to $25 billion, with Madison County’s Project Atlas at $11 billion on about 1,700 acres and Entergy Mississippi supplying power. Mississippi Today quoted AWS in June 2026 that five buildings were already operating at Canton with plans to at least double that presence, that Canton was using Canton Municipal Utilities water and would switch in 2027 to recycled wastewater from the Madison County Wastewater Authority via a Veolia partnership, about 83 million gallons a year, and that Amazon is raising CMU capacity 39 percent and Beatties Bluff treatment capacity 50 percent. A later Mississippi Today tax story said AWS challenged Madison County’s valuation of those five Canton buildings, the assessor at $292 million each versus Amazon’s $69 million, and that the Board of Supervisors sided with the assessor. The public map lists three operating 68.8 MW map records totaling 206.4 MW. Mississippi Today’s water story is the Canton-specific offtake: potable from Canton Municipal Utilities now, recycled wastewater from Beatties Bluff in 2027, and Amazon’s pipeline from the Big Black River wastewater stream. The August 2026 tax-valuation fight is the first public dollar figure on the five operating Canton buildings that the public map samples as three 68.8 MW halls.
