Overview

Fundamental Data’s Ridgeline page describes a Tucker County, West Virginia, data and energy project for AI, cloud, and enterprise networks, privately funded so it does not sit on taxpayer dollars or electricity ratepayers, with thousands of construction jobs, more than 500 permanent jobs, and billions in private investment. POWER reported that WVDEP’s Division of Air Quality determined on 13 August 2026 that Fundamental Data had legal site control when it received the August 2025 air permit for a gas-turbine plant on a 291-acre tract near Thomas, the first phase of a campus intended to include about 800 MW of gas, nearly 1.3 GW of solar, and 14 data-center buildings using more than 2 GW of compute, plus a second phase adding 3.1 GW of gas. Construction Permit R13-3713 was issued 15 August 2025, upheld by the Air Quality Board on 5 February 2026, and commercial operations are targeted for 2028. West Virginia Watch reported the DEP stating Fundamental Data controls the proposed Tucker County site. DAQ compared a redacted 19 July 2024 purchase agreement with Western Pocahontas Properties against the permit plot plans. Community groups including Tucker United, the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy, and the Sierra Club, represented by Appalachian Mountain Advocates, had questioned site control; DAQ said the 291-acre tract matched the permitted map.
