Nebius Independence Campus Data Center | Independence, MO

Nebius broke ground in May 2026 on a data-center campus in Independence, Missouri, at the Eastgate Commerce Center off Little Blue Parkway and Missouri Highway 78. Data Center Dynamics reported the 400-acre project as Nebius’s first gigawatt-scale U.S. campus, with up to ten buildings and as much as 1.2 GW described on the company’s project page. The City of Independence posted a data-center FAQ placing the campus northeast of Little Blue Parkway and Highway 78 and stating that the project needs at least 800 MW, to be supplied by a privately financed plant at the retired Blue Valley Power Plant site. The Kansas City Star reported Independence moving to reopen and expand Blue Valley to serve the campus, with stopgap power contracts until the rebuilt plant comes online. Earlier DCD coverage described an 800 MW, 2.5 million-square-foot plan after Nebius closed on about 398 acres from NorthPoint Development. Independence sits in Jackson County just east of Kansas City. Interstate 70 and Interstate 435 serve the eastern Jackson County industrial parks. The Little Blue River drainage and the former Blue Valley generating site sit west of the mapped campus toward the Missouri River.
