Overview
The Department of the Air Force solicited proposals for a commercial artificial-intelligence data center on leased federal land at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. Issued around October 15, 2025, the opportunity paired data-center construction with utility infrastructure and energy generation. Davis-Monthan was one of five installations in the solicitation, alongside Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee, Edwards Air Force Base in California, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, and Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Private entities would finance, construct, and operate the projects and provide monetary consideration for the leases. The proposed facilities are for commercial use rather than primarily for Air Force mission data.
The solicitation concerns qualifying projects with more than 100 MW of new electrical load and at least $500 million of capital expenditure under Executive Order 14318. The Arizona entry remains a Tucson and Pima County proposal tied specifically to the Air Force leasing process. The Air Force Civil Engineer Center listed the leasing opportunity. The Air Force Test Center published a question-and-answer article on the same solicitation. The mapped Tucson pin is one planned building at 500 MW reported.
The public map lists one map record, Davis-Monthan AFB Data Center, 500 MW, planned. Reported campus capacity is 500 MW.
